hey guys. i'm doing a survey for my stats class and am trying to get a large mix of people. I've gotten a lot or results from people at my school, in my age group, my general demographic so i'm trying to spread it around to as diverse a group of people as possible to get the widest results. I'd really appreciate if you could take this, and even if you felt like spreading it around the internet so i can collect as much data as possible. the link below takes you to the survey so if you want to spread it around, just send the link below to anyone you want. it'd really help and distributing this through facebook has been skewing my results because most of my friends on facebook tend to follow certain trends. http://www.kwiksurveys.com/?s=ILOHKJ_3cece51c thanks, TL

I hope for the sake of your respondents that the FBI never becomes interested in your hard drive. Jay

it's a study on internet piracy of music, video, and computer programs. i'm not too worried about the FbI looking at my hard drive seeing as all of the information on this survey is stored online. but either way, social researchers do work with criminals all the time. i've studied case files featuring interviews with arsonists who've never been caught, people who confess to murder in gang violence, and other pretty bad stuff. the government tends to not get involved with scientific research over such matters.

I think they're usually given some assurance of their privacy. Jay

What really pisses me off about these surveys is that no one ever posts the results. I don't fill in surveys for this very reason. All the hard work for nothing.

Jay The FBI doesent have time to run after every high school kid in America downloading illegal copies of Lady GaGa's latest song, they dont give a shit about that stuff. Illegal file sharing is more often a civil issue than a legal one, if anyone comes after you its going to be RIAA, not the FBI. If the FBI is coming after you for illegal file sharing its probably because you have terabytes of illegal media on a website that gets ten million visitors a month.
