No matter what make an appointment to see your GYN. Have him being blood work to see where your hormones are so that you can make decisions about menopausal care. Take a deep breath - it will all be fine.

In reply to: No matter what make an appointment to see your GYN. Have him being blood work to see where your hormones are so that you can make decisions about menopausal care. Hopefully your GYN is a her. (Male GYNs are like auto mechanics that can't drive IMO.) But I'd take a home test and go see her. My 65 year old (male boss) started having an affair with the nearly 50 year old second career starting post-doc in my lab when I was an undergrad. They were quite surprised to discover that they still 'had what it takes' after so many years. But at 50, you should probably expect a little less regularity even if you're still getting periods.

some women have children after 50. I wish this didn't seem so crazy and I could just be happy

things will be ok - I think we just need a break. anyway, I'm going climbing tomorrow, and buying gear tonight and taking a bouldering class for women. Who knew climbing is so addicting?
