Hello,

I will be moving to Aachen, Germany at the end of August to study for the next year. I need to make some contacts. If anyone knows of good climbing around that area pleases let me know. Also, could anyone tell me if it would be wise to bring all my gear? I'm afraid if I don't I will regret it, but due to baggage weight I need to keep it simple as well. Any thing that any of you could offer would be of great help.
Thanks to all,
Matt

Bring your gear for sure. Lots to climb and beautiful scenery.

You'll definitely be needing all of your gear. Most of the areas near Aachen are either fully trad or mixed (semi-bolted).

Closest areas:
Pfalz (trad, sandstone)
Strasburg/Alsace area (sport, mixed sandstone)
Ettringen (mixed, basalt)
Belgian crags (Freyr, Beez; sport, limestone)

I think you'll find all the contacts you need in the "blah blah thread" Wink
