OK, I'm starting to save my pennies to spend a chunk of time in Chamonix next winter. Are there any websites/forums that I might be able to look for housing in? Please be gentle, I only speak English and Spanish.

how long is a chunk? do you have a car? car camping and camping is the cheapest, then you can look to rent an appt with someone, or go to youth hostels type of thing...

Wasn't planning on having a car, staying for more than a month, less than a year, willing to pay rent for a room in a house, studio, or small apartment. And since I plan on being there for at least part of the winter, camping out jsut isn't as appealing. I was wondering if I could bypass the whole hostel lay-over and go directly to renting a spot, and if there are any English language resources that could help me...

Hi, You could try www.chamonix.net Alternatively, try asking on www.ukclimbing.com its a great UK based site and there are lots of users with apartments in Cham and others with years of experience living out there. Cheers
