Hi,
Coming weekend we're leaving for the Dolomites near Canazei which is east of Bolzano for climbing Cinque Torri, Vajolet twrs etc. Does anybody know a good camping in that area where it's like clean and cheap and we're not the only climbers...?

I tried to reply to this yesterday and the server lost my reply, so I'll paraphrase:
There are nice city campgrounds in both Canazei and Campitello, about 5 km south towards the Catinaccio. I think also further south in Vigo di Fassa? They are obviously clean, nice showers, etc. Cheap? Don't know what they cost now or what you call cheap. Both are nice, but mostly family vacationers, just a few climbers. The Canazei campground is nice because its just a couple blocks from the town center, has plenty of shade. For early starts you'll probably have to park outside the gate though, as they don't open terribly early. Campitello seems to fill up slower than Canazei and you can walk across the street to the grocery store and other shops.
Cortina has a nice campground on the north edge of town, but also supposedly a couple on the south side, haven't stayed there. Cortina's campground is nice, very wooded and more remote feeling, has a nice restaurant.
There also is camping near Falzarego Pass, more isolated and rustic.
Stop in Canazei or Selva and pick up the wanderkarte or tabacco map and you'll find others shown. I don't have my maps handy to look for you. Old free camping like at Sella Pass is no longer tolerated, so I don't know of any free camping along the main roads.

Thx! We're back from Italy for a week now.
We stayed on camping Miravella in Campitello and later moved to Camping Sas Dlacia in Armentarola. Both were good places!

FYI, just got back from the Dolomites and the campground just west of Falzarego Pass is no longer in business. Other than Cortina, the only other camping in the area I saw is down near the Rifugio Scotoni next to the Cunturines group.

There's a great campground in Canazei, no reservations possible however.
It's fairly large, so you should still be able to find a spot there.
