Any recommendations on areas to climb on Grand Canary or Tenerife?

Hi,
You can have a look at www.topatras.org to have a general idea of what the climbing looks like in Grand Canary. I know that there is a good climbing spot in Tenerife, "Arico". Have a look here to see the climbing areas: http://www.escuelasdeescalada.com/lista.php?comunidad=5
Bye!

Just wanted to add another link for climbing in Tenerife, where apparently the only decent climbing on the Canary islands exists. Have been on holiday here some years back but never climbed there, it's another good hot climate destination:

Maybe Tenerife is the best option for climbing if you have to choose one of the seven islands of Canary Islands. But I´ve been climbing in Gran Canaria Island and I would strongly recommend Tamadaba climbing area. The rock is good, the routes are great and the area is beautiful!
Have a look at this...

I wanted to go to Lanzarote after Tenerife due to someone informing me of the sports scene there but never got round to it, but it wasn't for climbing at the time as I wasn't climbing then.

It was more for this:

club La Santa. I was mainly a big swimmer at that time, and Robin Brew was a coach out there, who also used to be in the Brit RAF.

Though the rock climbing is also surely at Gran Canaria:

The Arico Gorge on Tenerife is cool with plenty of good sport climbs of all grades. Wanted to trad climb on the higher altitude crags on Tiede, but it was snowed out.
The gorge is comfortable to camp in, and within easy (but steep!) walking distance from Arico town, where there are market shops and good eateries. In particular there was a very fine and friendly organic ("ecologica") cafe. Its off the tourist trail, so dont expect much english to be spoken.
The gorge is dry, so take water in from the town or purify some from one of the covered irrigation channels by the road.
If you go a bit further up the gorge you will find the old rock-carved dwellings which are cool. Be prepared to get woken up early by herds of goats clanging through your campsite.
Enjoy yourself, dont be put off by the ugly coastal towns! Away from the sea its a very beautiful and hospitable island.
