What is with the french, ruining this guy, b4 he ever got started. I mean, he sent a 5.15b b4 american climbers got 14.b, so what does the european climbing community think of this guy? He is french, he got Akira. I personally think the world should get off of american climbers nuts and look around. Sharma, is strong, but Rouhling did it in the 90's. period

well, in hes early days he 'manufactured' routes and thus damaged hes credibility. and i will have to agree with the community on this one. there is no exuse ever, for anyone, to manufacture holds on a route that is supposed to be 'free'. ever. he brought in onto himself. he might not manufacture routes anymore, but the reputation has stuck.

it's even more complicated. He very seldom repeats other climbers hard problems ; other climbers don't repeat his problems ; he has severely downgraded other people problems ; some of his recent boulders have been severely downgraded as well... He recently moved from western France to Savoy, where he is not appreciated by locals, so the battle s still going on. This guy is strong, but has a very specific type of climbing (extreme oevrhangs with small crimpers and sometimes no foot). So is he the strongest or is he a strong one amongst the strongest? Other thing : he is now 37, so he might not be able to be as strong as he used to be. The legend will remain controversial.

Hmm. Just seen his homepage. You're right, he's not on the ugly part... nice video there. Gotta hide it from my girlfriend - Daniel
