Howdy all, I'm an American moving to Vienna and I was wondering if anyone around here had a suggestion of good forums to check for finding climbing partners in Austria, suggested areas to look for trad in the area, and the like.

I've been living in Vienna for a couple of years and just got back into climbing in the last 6 months (had been a couple of years since I last climbed in France)... but I mostly do sport climbing - no trad.

The Alpenverein has a bunch of different sections in Vienna, no doubt with folk that do trad climbing. The largest section, if you're joining that club, is the Edelweiss - they have a climbing wall in the town center and tonnes of course, events etc. that they organise:

Hope this helps and ping me if you want to head to an indoor wall over the winter here.

Cheers,
Jimmy

Thanks for the info - I went ahead and signed up with them. Hopefully we'll run into one another!

That might take a while to type... I'll just say life is pretty good here.

There's a book called Living in Vienna, published by the American Womens Association that goes into a bit more detail.
