WTF is up with the Hubers and their sport climbing tactics on THE NOSE?

SURE they have long hair and climb without shirts, BUT ANYbody could climb THE NOSE in two hours and forty-five minutes if they rehearsed the thing a million times (except Hans Florine obviously).

I want to see some onsight NOSE speed records, learn something from Ammon and Ivo and Onsight that junk.

Tick marks plus Euro = trash.

And what's stopping you exactly to go up there and climb it in better style? ;)

BTW all the speed ascents are done pulling on whatever....since the point is speed...

This and...

WTF is it with tick marks on the nose? Really there's no LNT on a route that sees at least 30 parties a week - off season. What kind of wild life do you expect there? And what's more visual impact: A couple of white spots here and there - or a huge clusterfuck of ropes, portaledges and wrecked climbers? Not to mention those incontinent idiots unable to carry there egesta out.

That said I believe the whole tick mark story is made up bullshit. I've seen the documentary on the first two attemps - there might have been a tick mark or two (not even clear by whom), but it was far from the paint-by-numbers thing people want to make a point about.

BTW: Shu, this might have been a good troll, but I don't think the EuroFreaks forum sees enough traffic...

Actually, there is some grass growing on the upper pitches of the nose.

We climbed the route one week after the Hubers and there were plenty of tickmarks on the 5.11 pitches. They had tickmarked nearly all of the holds on some pitches. But I didn't find it bothering. I found it very inspriring someone could climb the thing that fast.
