Major ATM cards (e.g. Plus system - look at the logos on your card) should work in Europe. You will generally get much better exchange rates than if exchanging bills. Just don't use a credit card to get cash - heavy fees and the interest clock starts ticking right away. I would at least bring some fleece... Pascal

first of all, please remember YOU MUST NOT SLEEP at the BOTTOM OF THE CRAG in CEUSE. The access could becolme sketchy because of all the litters and human dejections left at the crag by the climbers. Please sleep at the Col des Guérins, and walk 50 minutes each day. PLease. So the average and extreme low temps in Grenoble, alt 212 m, are 4°c and 12°3c in June, and 6° and 14° in July. The Col des Guérins is at 1312 m, which should gie approx. -2°c and 6°c in June, and 0°c and 8°c in July. In Verdon, you will likely sleep in La Palud-sur-Verdon (many campgrounds), elevation 925 m and more south than Grenoble, so approx. 1°c and 8°c in June, and 2°c and 10°c in July. In Fahrenheit: Céüse / Col des Guérins : extrem low June : 28°F average low June : 43°F extrem low July : 32°F average low July :46°F Verdon / La Palud : extrem low June : 34°F average low June : 36°F extrem low July : 46°F average low July : 50°F So you might consider taking a good sleeping bag...

I use my visa all the time in france. Roadtaxes, supermarkets, petrol/gas, all no prob. Most restaurants will take them, but not all.
