I donŽt think preikestolen really has some good climbing..

Are you sure youŽre not thinking of Kjerag?

http://www.brv.no/english.asp?id=about-brv

I suppose you canŽt read norwegian? but here are some very short info about preikestolen:
http://www.brv.no/gammelt/ruterx.htm#prekestolen

It basically says:
"Although the wall is quite vegetated there has been some attempts to climb the wall from the fjord and up.
Raset - 1995, Myklebust/ Bae.
Fotturen - 1995, Nesheim/ Bae."

Sonso45: Although iŽve never been around that area i do have the guidebook at home, so if you have any question iŽd might be able to answer it..

Too bad it is vegetated, I have only seen photos of people hiking up and standing at the top. It looks like a crack splits the wall to the water. Can you direct me to photos of the face that begins at the water?

Well hereŽs a couple of pictures i found on google. (just try the word preikestolen or prekestolen and youŽll find hundreds...)
The first one shows the whole wall best.

But seriously, have a look at kjerag, situated in the same fjord and rising 1000 meters.
There are lots of high-quality routes on it (they say)

And there is told to be alot! of new routes to be done all over the fjord...

Not too many has climbed Prekestolen. Two accent was done by Myklebust/ Bae in 95. It is vegetated and I think it was done technicaly. Not a good suggestion. Kjerag is a better alternativ:)
