pretty sad that place. Musta tried to GU that whole site, never caught on. No surprise really. The interface sucks, it's a ghost town with no ghosts.

Surprised the spammers haven't taken over it yet. Surprised... well, not really.. that my "content" hasn't been removed by the admins yet. 'Course, if they only show up ever five months it might take awhile.

too bad protospray issued the challenge, then promptly abandoned his mission.
I forgot my F*%^&ing password, plus I got bored. We need more than two peoplez.
Maybe I'll burn some time and hit 100 on there today, if I remember that password.
why hit 100 when you can hit 51?

besides, you hit the nail on the head with the "bored" part.

that place was a ghost town before I showed up there. Thanks to k.l.k. btw, for pointing that site out in another thread which was locked before anyone could comment on it.

Wow I sure hope they don't change the size of the front page photo. It already uses up 1/40th of my screen, preventing even more large advertisments from being displayed.

you need to download and install firefox3.0, along with AdblockerPlus. I so rarely see advertisements any more, regardless of what site I'm surfing, that I've mostly forgotten what they look like.

If you're going to go to the trouble of getting firefox (which I highly recommend), you might as well play around with some of their add-ons, making for a highly customizable browsing experience.

Any chance they will ditch the moderators and let it become a climbers' site?

Ok so I just looked on biking.com and turns out they have a whole 312 members. Ok hold on minute now, how the f*** do you have a site with a prime name like biking.com and you don't manage to capitalize on that all. I mean that site should practically run itself. To me, that is not impressive leadership.

Also they buy and sell domain names, and only started doing this in 2007. Where does their experience come from again?

Really ... were they the BEST choice????

I'm not a mac user, but I believe the whole idea is to have a program written (and ported for each OS) such that all of their add-ons can be written once and they just work, regardless of OS.

Genius, isn't it?

You should give it a try. They have it available in 46 languages. Unfortunately Scottish isn't one of them.

never mind. i checked out their site. http://namemedia.com/our-businesses/
This is what i learned:

"Our Businesses
Imagine the opportunities if you owned one of the largest portfolios of real estate in the world. You could develop some of the real estateaˆ”particularly your premier destinations, your beachfront property. You could sell some of the real estate, allowing property buyers access to your exclusive inventory. You could use the insight from your holdings (what’s selling, what’s worth developing) to acquire additional properties. And you could offer other property owners access to your sales or development platform.

This is the opportunity for NameMedia.

As the owner of one of the largest portfolios of domain names, NameMedia is focused on acquiring, developing and selling digital real estate.

We do this through our media business (domain monetization) and our marketplace business (domain buying and selling).

Our media business allows advertisers to reach the highly targeted online audiences that visit our network of domain names, including websites that have rich communities of highly engaged enthusiasts using our innovative social media platform. Collectively, these websites receive more than 60 million visitors monthly.
LEARN MORE

Our marketplace business has created the equivalent of the “MLS” for domain properties by aggregating the largest number of premium domains for sale (including those owned by us and those owned by others who have joined our listing service) and the largest number of domain buyers through our global distribution network. The Domain Listing Service (DLS) has now sold domains to customers in more than 100 countries."

Best of luck to you guys. Enjoy the years of freedom to come. I know this decision was the best for you and your families. Time will tell if this company is going to exploit our sport the way other corporate non-climber have been in recent years.

I have to admit that it feels sort of like rc.com has become one of those bad debt accounts that keeps getting sold off to various collection agencies. Each one tries to collect and the reward just isn't worth the effort involved so they pass it off to another sucker.......
