Occasionally when accounts gets the banz hammer, there is no communication on it to people outside of the mod community. I understand there are risks, especially if someone gets banzed for phhysical threats.
However an electronic obit would help. Account name, date of ban (or lenth of time out), and TOS violation.

this is purely my opinion and not management or any other mod's. i am of the whack-a-mole school of thought. it's nobody's business but the site's and the person who got banned. it does not concern anyone else, we are not obligated to inform the usership of rc.com. a user gets banned end of story.

Bike forums has a locked thread for this. Admin/mods can post in it with the User name, reasoning and sentence length. Hell some of them are voluntary "please ban me so i can study for finals for 2 weeks"

By a factor of at least 300 to 1 spammers and scammers are the beneficiaries of the banz. Would you really like to wade through a list of people with names like Jacob Ngumu or Mrs. Nzima.. The vast majority of banzings are handed out to the nigerian scammers and the viagra spammers.
No, you don't want to have a thread dedicated to all the banzees. We got enough work to do around here as it is, you know like collecting our huge paychecks and enjoying all those executive bathroom facilities, taking the secretary out for a 3 hour lunch etc. What's a mod to do.

This is a free site, after all, and I can't think of a single user who has paid to support any of this since Namemedia took over.

We are accountable to the users as much as we need to be. I can see where if a mod were actually paid for this then some transparency would be appreciated, but it is a private site paid for by ads. We could just not banz the spammers - to include CI and Snupes - and let this place become overrun. I think it would solve two problems (1) us not having to list any sort of banzings, and (2) no reason for us to banz anyone.

The hand wringing that used to go on here was laughable. Remember The PTPP Hand Wringing Contest (at least 2 of the posters in this thread were leaders of the ptpp lynching hehe)... made this site a laughing stock.
Take the post or the poster out behind the barn and shoot it in the head in the dark of night and bury it at the bottom of a lake.
