I'm suggesting a knot dictionnary could be a great addition to this site. It could be like the terms dic, but with pictures on how to tie them, differents names, Pros and Cons, comments left by those who already tryed them, technical data and so on.. Some willl say that the web already has thousands of pages about that, but I think a page where knots are filtred and sorted could be great help to beginners. Any objections? - Genlock

I think that it would be a good idea also. However, I think that it would be time consuming to set up because of all of the pictures that would need to be posted. I do not know if the need is strong enough to warrant the time expenditure, due to the fact that the information is already available on so many other sites as you have stated. I also feel that even though most people can probably learn how to tie a knot by looking at a series of pictures, it is preferable for them to see the knot tied also and get some hands on instruction.

Why not post a page with links on different knots? Much easier & quicker than doing the picture posting thing on this w/site.

This is one of the best ideas for improving the RC.COM website that I've ever heard. Expanding on it, there could also be pages that show how to set up different belays, rap anchors, rap set-ups, big wall techniques, etc. Sort of like a climber's guide online. It would be faster and easier than searching through forums to find the information you want. I've seen a couple of sites that have pictures of knots. It would be pretty easy to e-mail one of them, and ask permission to simply copy their site to RC.COM (mirror it).

I think that's a great idea too! Apollo - great idea for expanding the knots theme, and I agree that it wouldn't be too tough to get permission to use photos from other sites, or it could just be links if there are problems. I'd be willing to help do some research and find sites etc. (it's what I do all day anyway - research educational websites) - so if anyone is going to put a section together let me know and I can do some looking. Great plan! Everyone can learn more from anchors, knots, rap info. etc. - let's do it!!!

Finally, some replys!!! *joke* I would be really happy to help out!! I do have a digital camera, I'd be able to help taking fresh new pictures of knots, step by step, instead on borrowing from other pages. let's get this project started!! - Genlock

genlock - I'm with ya! The dig. camera will come in very handy -- I guess all we need is someone to get a page started where we can put the information into. Anyone who can do that reading this?!?!?!

I like apollo's idea of anchors and belay stations. There are only a handful of rock climbing knots that could easily be demonstrated. The confusing parts, are working them all together so everything will be equalized. Now thats something we should invest time in
