The 'Featured User' section of the front page has been quite a slow process, when it comes to the 'circulation' of featured users. I would feel much better, if they were to be changed every so often (a bit quicker than they are now), so that other users can have a chance to receive the the exposure, and the recognition they need. Oh, and I would also like to state that I feel that the featured user should not only be those who appear on the front page of rockclimbing.com, it should be those worthy of some recognition.

I totally agree! The question is how do we gather info? Maybe we need to add a nomination box, where people can nominate people for this. For now, I think we should have anyone with suggestions (name and reason for nomination), to send a PM to the Editor for Featured user. Trevor

I would say a featured user should be someone who most people are unaware of (yes, that means I'm saying NO to me as FU ). Someone who has done some really good stuff around the site, but keeps a low profile. Adding lots of stuff the database, writing articles, or just offering some really solid information to other users. I know there are some who exist out there who have very little posts (

Nominations (and reasons) would be great. Please PM them to me... If you PM them to Trevor, he will forward them to me, as he is VERY busy with the coding/debugging side of this site. I am fair and objective here, but I will not change the FU any sooner that once every 2 weeks, as some regular users go on hiatis(sp?). ~Adam

BTW... The Featured User is meant to highlight users who do much for the site behind the scenes. It is for users who have gone well above and beyond what most users do, and who's work has signifigantly improved the content of the site, but largely gone unnoticed because their names aren't all over their work. i.e. Editors, Active Mods, Active MGRs, major Routes DBase contributions, etc... All of these types of contributions require a lot of online time devoted to working, with little recognition, and with the FU we are trying to give them the recognition they deserve for the time they have donated to the site. Prolific Forum posters do give a lot of good information, but their names also appear with all their contributions, therefore they don't warrant having to be highlighted to bring to attention their contributions, as it is already well known. If you look at the Top Rated users on the FP, you'll notice that many are not prolific posters, and have gained their points by adding content to the site in ways that most users do not know of. By featuring them, we are able to highlight the work they have done, and give them a public thanx. ~Adam [ This Message was edited by: rrradam on 2002-04-17 08:42 ]

Hey Adam... Quote: posted by me a bit earlier Someone who has done some really good stuff around the site, but keeps a low profile.
