Out of date and no longer available but if you can pick up a pair I suggest it. Was/is one of the best tools I've evr swung for moderate and alpine ice. Nothing to bulgey or technical due to the lack of a radically shaped shaft.

Black Prophets are Great! 4 out of 5 stars

I got a pair of these brand new as my first tools. I've climbed up to WI4 with them and I like them a lot. They are definetly knuckle bashers, especially around buldges . . . takes some getting used to. They do have some more heft than the newer tools, but are by no means 'heavy.' On less-than-vertical ice they're your best friends if you prefer a leash on your tools. However, I would avoid them for mixed climbing.

It's a poor craftsman who blemes his tools, boys. Your knuckles get bashed from improper swing, not from the lack of a radical bend in these excellent, moderately bent shaft tools. I swear by prophets up to WI6.

I just nabbed a pair of these tools at a great price - 150 for two! They swing really well and feel nice in my large hands. Although they're not bent at the head for bulges they handle moderate ice well and are perfect in alpine situations. I'm stoked to have a pair of these very reliable workhorses!

Heavy, but sinks like a battleship when it hits the ice. Also a knuckle-basher, but otherwise good.

For being a straight tool, I think these are great. They have some heft, and a nice pick. Climbed some WI2, 3 today...they worked just fine. Rubber grip felt nice and warm, balance was good, can't ask for much more out of straight tools.
