A very basic, but affordable mountaineering axe for easy to moderate terrain. Exceptional value in a solid workhorse axe for beginners and those on a budget. The stamped, two-piece pick has a moderate angle that provides good purchase, but is not ideal for climbing sustained, steep slopes. The rubber coated shaft enhances grip and the attached leash prevents accidental drops. Although it is a durable and well-built piece, more experienced mountaineers may want a lighter, more specialized axe.
