Description

The Turbo Express Ice Screw is one of the fastest placing screws in the world. With a retractable knob that “locks” out of the way till needed, the sleeve on the Turbo Express spins quickly and freely during placement—which means you don’t have to readjust your hand with every turn. This uniterrupted motion makes for lightning-fast, turbocharged placements. This year we’ve added two new sizes (16 cm and 19 cm) and color coded the sleeves for easy identification. Strength rating: 10 kN (2298 lbf).

-Ultra-fast-placing screw
-Free-spinning sleeve provides uninterrupted motion during placement
-Durable threads and teeth stay razor sharp season after season

BD turbo express screw 4 out of 5 stars

Review by: vdotmatrix, 2007-02-20

Great screw. rack well. screw well when kept sharp. i own 11 of these screws. the only thing is the knobby deal is a bit small with bulky gloves. and it looks like they would shred gloves if you do not consciously watch the screwing process. BUT overall great. Althought the Grivel screw might be cool that big handle contraption is a pain to rack.

These babies rock. They place well, you can flip the knob down, and are quite durable. If you know how to sharpen them correctly, they are amazing all season. Only bummer is they only fit one biner in them easily, and the hanger is rough on gloves.

they do rack well, as Jimdavis stated, but after that, i'd rather have 360's for every reason. Or even Grivel Helix screws.

Nothing special about these. They rack well, but that's about it. Compaired to a 360, they're less durable, harder to start, have less leverage on their speed mechanism, and have limited placement options.

After leading a few pitches on these, I won't buy any. The 360 is a much better screw.

Hefty price tag? Here in Canada they run in the middle of the price range, Petzl Laser sonics, the Simond Tornadoes, and a couple other screws are heftier price-wise. That said, a good screw. I find the biner opening a little small compared to my other screws (Grivel Helixes), and the express handle a little small with larger gloves. Start great, screw in great, and come out great though, so... while not my favorite, still good.
