Fully functional, durable and water resistant, the Alpine Pants have quickly proven themselves to be the ultimate in cold-weather wear. Built from stretchy Schoeller Dynamic™ fabric that sheds wind and snow, these pants have articulated knees, two zippered pockets, elastic cuffs and a reinforced butt. Great for snowboarding, skiing, alpine climbing or spring mountaineering.

Wow. Definitely better than BD's BDV's. These pants have a zipper, which obviously makes them better.
Pros- lightweight, stretchy, schoeller. They breathe well, shed water, dry from fully soaked in less than 20 mins, and resist abrasion. They have a sticky elastic around the bottom cuffs for alpine boots or ice climbing. Zippered pocket on the thigh and at the waist. nice to have a pocket access even with a harness.
Cons- smallish belt loops. no closeable cuffs on the bottom. expensive. no rear pockets.
All in all a stellar pant for outdoor activity. It breathes well, I've worn them in 100 degree weather and didnt overheat at all. Well worth the money.
