I bought this rope as my first one, after having belayed with several of my friends ropes. I like the handling and feel of this one, although it could have been a bit lighter. It's a pretty durable rope, which I'm climbing with for 2 years now, and I'm not thinking of replacing it yet.

This rope gets the job done. It is very dynamic. When you take a fall it's really boing! soft. The down side of this is that you fall much further, which could mean ground potential. I was using it for top rope today, and I pulled about 10 feet of stretch out of the rope before lowering someone from a 40 foot climb! Hopefully After breaking it in (lots of raps and TR's to get that extra bounce out) it will be good for lead.

Very smooth, very supple, nice, tight weave. I just bought this rope as my first rope this past month and got to use it last weekend. I have an Omega SBG ATC that generates MASSIVE amounts of natural friction, to the point where it's a strain to feed rope when belaying after a while. Well, my 10.5mm Altea feeds nicely through the Omega, which was a concern of mine. The rope is rated 9 falls, though I haven't taken one on it YET, so I can't speak for durability just yet. For the $$, this rope seems like a good buy, for a first rope and maybe an extra.
