One of the best compasses out there. Mirror sighting is simple and intuitive and the mirrored cover has an actual hinge with a pin, not just a folded piece of plastic like outher cheaper models. I could see that being a problem on others. Easy to set the declination with the little key that's included. Anti-swing liquid that brings the needle to a stop very quickly. Clinometer is helpful if you backcountry ski or do any mountaineering and want to be avy aware. Backpacker Editor's Choice is a solid endorsement as well.

Great compass. It's easy to use and adjusting the declination is super easy. All you need is this and a topo map and you can find your way anywhere.

I've had one of these things for about 4 years now....just awesome...i've used a wide sellection of compassed from silva and sunnto because those are the brands mainly used in NATO armies ......
i managed to get mine in Mils (one revolution is 6400 mils instead of 360 degrees) and mine also has degrees on it as a secondary on the dial.....
very awesome though.....get little peice of gear i never leave without......
