Description
This is the updated version of the DMM Prowire. DMM's Hot forging technique allows them to utilize an I-beam construction resulting in a wire gate biner that is both ultralight and strong. The wire gate shaves off precious weight while reducing the chance of an open gate due to gate flutter yet facilitates fast clipping. Also DMM has relaxed the curves in this carabiner as compared to the older Prowire resulting in a more useable and nylon webbing friendly krab.

I agree that these biners are a bit pricey compared to other lightweight biners, however, I definately find them more useable than the others. Much like the Prowire, which they replace, the Spectre is full sized, full strength and annodized to match your cams. The Spectres though, address the one big downfall of the Prowires, Spectres can be used with normal one inch webbing where as the Prowires shouldn't be. If these carabiners featured the Wild Country Heliums keylock nose and were cheaper they would have gotten a 5. Overall these carabiners are probably more suited to the experienced Trad climber looking to shed weight but not functionality, than the hardcore sport climber or new leader starting a rack.

While this biner is in no way a bad biner, there are others who perform way better in this high price levels (WC helium for example).
It is light, has a good handling, high gate open strength, but it has no keylock nose as the helium and is a bit smaller (without being lighter)

Update on the prowire, these biners are choice. I have the anodized ones for color coding and they're even better than the venerable prowires. Highly recommended for the discerning gear freak.
