Description

The Booster III DryCoVer is a fine blend of weight, strength, handling and running quality. This is the rope for discriminating climbers who want a slightly thicker-diameter rope that feels light and supple. Combining lightness with a reduced surface area—which alleviates rope drag—this strong rope has proved its usefulness on today’s endurance routes like the Nose- or Half Dome-in-a-day where speed is of the essence and extra ounces sap strength.

Booster III 9.7mm DryCoVer by Beal 3 out of 5 stars

This is my first sub-10mm rope and it worked very well in reducing rope drag but was scary slick with a grigri (even though the Petzl grigri manual says it is okay to use with 9.7mm ropes) and I had to switch to using a new-style higher friction Reverso. ATC-XP or ATC-guide would probably work fine too.

Nice... 4 out of 5 stars

Great rope! Good weight, very good specs, great hand, blah blah blah. Fairly durable. Did hold dirt and aluminum residue more than most, even after a washing, but didn't ever really fuzz out. Got kind of oval shaped after a year of 3/4 times a week of use. I'm gonna retire it soon for serious leading but will still use it for mellow leads and tr.

Great rope. Even like the color! It does stretch quite a bit but I like the lower impact force. I got the 70 meter length for cragging in the creek. I hope that the slickness wears off soon... it's fast through a belay device , but mine is brand new. It also feels lighter than my old 9.4 mm 60 meter! WTF?!

I purchased this rope originally due to its combination of weight, impact force, and number of falls. The sharp edge certification was nice (although it is no longer relevant), and I've come to appreciate the bi-pattern weave greatly. I've been using it for 3 years as my trad rope, and it has held up well. It's actually the thickest rope I own currently, but still handles and feeds very well. If I had to purchase just one do-it-all single rope, this would be it.

I have been using this rope for about a year. It is great for leading. It handles well, its easy to clip, its light and it has a smallish diameter so there is significantly less friction than a 10.5mm rope. If you take a fall, it can be a little hard to get the rope untied. The couple of times I let beginners belay me with this rope it was dicey, they had trouble controlling the rope as they lowered me. After a year and lots of falls, I had to trim 15 feet from the ends, but now its ready for another year of abuse.
