Metolius Rope Ranger
Review by: climbdork, 2008-05-31
What can I say that hasn't been said above? Just another very satisfied customer here. I especially like the 2 shoulder straps for backpack-style schlepping. I also appreciate the colored loops on opposite corners of the tarp. I make the red loop the sharp end. At the end of the day, I tie the sharp end into the black loop, re-flake the rope, and voila! the ends are rotated and the wear gets spread more evenly. My 70m rope fits with plenty of space left over. Thanks, other reviewers, for the idea of carrying draws and harness inside. I'd never thought of that.
Top notch!

I've done the gear-junkie thing and shelled out on a fair bit of stuff recently. This is one of my fave items. It's pretty comfy as a short-haul backpack. It's tough and the extra-large tarp is a useful bonus. It takes my 70m rope with space for my harness, chalk bag, a cannister of extra chalk, my belay device, a few biners, a few draws, a couple of spare t-shirts and a few sandwiches. I clip two pairs of shoes and my water bottle on the external handle. I've got another pack for taking all of that plus a rack of gear for all-day climbing, but this bag fits everything I need for sport climbing.

like they say, plenty of extra space. i can fit most my gear in there, minus the shoes. i usually just clip those to one of the strap. it'd be great if it had enough space to throw a water bottle in there too... otherwise, it's a great bag.

I throw my draws, harness, and chalkbag along with the rope and head out for the day.
