like an old friend... 3 out of 5 stars

While I have moved on to more alpine-type packs, this workhorse has done pretty well for eight years worth of weekend cragging, alpine climbing, hiking and international travel. This is neither the lightest nor fastest pack. For climbing and backcountry, I now prefer technical packs in the 50L range, sub $200, sub 4 lbs. And sometimes the Gregory strap system takes a wee bit too long (compared to your friends who are ready 20 seconds before you). However, this solid pack has seen me through a lot of climbing and traveling. And the adjustable back helps you lock in the fit. Gregory service is excellent for fixes. No hydration flap, but two side pockets for water bottles.

Very comfortable pack. Have used several times on backpacking trips. Good capacity and accessability! If you need a good medium size pack this one deserves a look.
