They don't edge as well as the 5-10 guide tennies, but they hike much better and offer more protection on the heels and sides than the 5-10's. I've only climbed 5.5-5.6 in them and they worked fine, just felt flimsy (which is expected, since they aren't rock shoes), but I have weak toes anyway.

These shoes are great, I got them a couple weeks ago and already took them to Devil's Lake, in the rain! Quartzite has zero friction to begin with, when wet I'm pretty sure it goes negative, yet these held strong!!! No slips no falls, excellent traction. Not to mention they feel like a dream, lace to the toe very securely, and climb extremely well. Would recommend to anyone looking for approach, climbing, campus shoes!!!
