Description

We created this boot because we were tired of the Hobson's choice between a lightweight hiker and a heavy mountaineering boot. Most lightweight boots are good for long approaches, but unsuitable on steep snow or ice, and the heavy boots are good only on steep terrain. The Lotus GTX makes no compromises and excels at either extreme. It is excellent for steep New England ice or for taking a cruise on the Black Ice Couloir. The ultimate fast and light ice boot.

The nylon upper is padded and reinforced for support and protection, but allows excellent foot and ankle mobility. And the stretch tongue gusset construction keeps the boots low-profile and conforming to the foot. Less bulk, less weight, and greater flexibility all make climbing easier and more athletic.

I've had these for about a year now, They're not bad for 3 season trips. I used them mostly in the winter, and my feet were usually cold, They also started leaking, I've had this problem with every pair of montrails I've owned, maybe it's me, maybe it's montrail, but the boots crank down nice and tight and they are good for warmer trips when you're sure you'll be needing crampons. I also think they'll be good for ice climbing, but don't know for sure. They are very easy to walk in, the sole stays pretty stiff, but the uppers break in really soft making walking very natural
