Rude...butt awful 1 out of 5 stars

Review by: vickigylym, 2013-03-27

I had a favorite pair of boots that needed resoling in time to go hiking in Banff, Canada in a month. Their website said 2 week turnover time. I mailed them in priority 2day delivery, called to check on progress 8 days later and explained the need why and when I needed the boots within 4 weeks, especially since they advertised 2 week turnover time. The woman taking the calls (heard her voice on two separate calls) said "I can't kiss everyone's butt who calls. I can give you priority rush on the job for an extra $40." That was on top of the $97 plus $20 shipping I had already paid via Paypal. Wow, I was taken aback by how rude she was - who speaks to customers like that- "...kiss everyone's butt"??? Needless to say I got the boots back 6 weeks later than the advertised two week turnaround time. Rude, late, broken promises. DO NOT use them.

Very disappointed 2 out of 5 stars

I own a pair of Kayland Zephyrs, they're my favorites. The soles died out, but the uppers were still in great shape, so I thought it would be a shame to throw them away. I looked up resoling services and contacted Rocky Mountain Resole. Not having done this before, my concern was that the boots would lose their shape and most importantly, their comfortable fit. RMR reassured me that "The first thing we do is place a last in the boots. This keeps there shape and size".

So I decided to take the plunge, but I live in Latin America so shipping was going to require creativity. A friend of mind who's going to college in the US agreed to take the boots with her and send them to RMR. The boots were supposed to be ready in time for her return home over Christmas. RMR sent them to Elon, NC instead of Elon University Campus, as the instructions clearly stated. Thus my friend came home empty-handed while the boots sat in some remote post office in NC. It took a lot of phone calls and frustration in the ensuing months. The boots made back to RMR. Then I asked them to send them to a freight forwarder in FL, which is an expensive service, but I had no other choice. Again I had clearly printed the address with my ID customer number in big bold font. I told them explicitly how important that number was to get the boots in time. They screwed up again by forgetting to print the ID number on the package, and the boots sat in FL for many weeks.

After another quota of phone calls and emails, I finally got the boots today. Four and a half months later, the work RMR did on the boots seems very robust indeed. But the type of sole they used changed the overall look of them. Then I tried them on and... you guessed it... the boots don't fit well. Actually, to be fair one boot is Ok but the other is a few milimeters too short. Besides, the sole is so stiff, that they feel like two pieces of 2x4s.

After all the ordeal, I'll have to part with my favorite boots and find them a new owner...

Well, at least that's not as bad as throwing in them away in the first place...

Avoid these crooks 1 out of 5 stars

These folks are crooks. Simply stated they doublecharged me for a resole job. When I brought it to their attention, they ignored 5 emails, hung up on me twice by phone after telling me to quit wasting their time, finally after days said they'd credit me and never did. I can understand a mistake in the first place but to refuse to refund the mistake when it's brought to your attention is theft!!! Quite simply, they are thieves. Beware!!

Shoddy 1 out of 5 stars

Don't use these people. I sent my Merrell Wilderness Boots up to them. They came back with the new soles already beginning to separate. Sent them back. They came back with the new soles already beginning to separate but with screws holding the sole in place in the toe. Finally sent them to Dave Page in Seattle. He fixed them. Never got a refund or even a reply from Rocky Mountain Resole after the second time. Don't waste your time or money with Rocky Mountain Resole.

Graet Quality and Confort 5 out of 5 stars

Glad to have my old friend back in working order. RMR provide an estimate for work to be preformed before recieving my boots. The workmanship is excellent and the boots were returned in better condition than I thought possible. They worked wornders.

I have hiked about 100 miles on the new soles with no issue and all the comfort. I am looking forward to many more mile to come.
