About Shisha Pangma:

Shisha Pangma

The 13th highest mountain in the world

Shisha Pangma is one of the easiest 8000m climbs consisting of mostly snow. There is only one route which usually starts at the Driver's Camp then goes to Base Camp. From there 3 camps lead you to the summit. Permits may be obtained by the Chinese Tibet Mountaineering Association. The CTMA controls all permits issued. They are quit expensive so try sharing a permit.

Nearest town or city: Rolwaling Himal
Directions: Usually expeditions start in Kathmandu, then cross the border to Nyalam to acclimatize for 2 days. From Nyalam, transportation by vehicle is available to "the driver's camp" (4900m). Then hike in to "base camp" (5700m).
