About Temple Crag:

Temple Crag is the prominent formation on the mountaintop south of Pui O village. Mostly sport climbing, with a few trad lines as well. Most routes are multipitch. Approach is from the top via rappel. Perhaps the finest views of any crag in Hong Kong.
Nearest town or city: Pui O
Directions: From Tung Chung MTR, take bus 3M to Pui O. Temple Crag is visible on the top of the prominent mountain nearby. Take the wandering concrete walkway towards the crag. Continue on Chi Ma Wan Road, staying on the left side of the water channel. The road will twist and turn, then take you to the country trail. Follow the path directly behind the park map. Continue up the trail, to the summit marker. As you start to descend, there is an inobvious path to your right which will take you out near the clifftop. There is a large triangular platform with the rap stations for the left wall. The hongkongclimbing website shows rap anchors at the very top, and mentions a steel cable leading down to the platform. The cable is now gone, and the top anchors are hangerless. There is a gully scramble that takes you down to the platform -- mostly easy, but takes you close to the edge of a 200' drop-off. There are a plethora of bolts at the platform. The anchors on the far right (below the stone wall) will take you the area of Tin Hau and Via Etrusca. Three rappels to the bottom. Total distance from Pui O bus stop to the summit is roughly 5 kilometers, with a 213 meter elevation gain along the way.
