Description:

Mostly overhanging and blocky with fairly easy route finding. Many of the original aid pitches have now gone free at up to grade 25. There are 11 pitches all up as some of the long rap pitches are divided into shorter climbing pitches. There is at least one long traverse of about 10 metres. There are 2 serious roofs. This is a grade 3 wall. It is recommended to allow for at least 3 full days to find your way in to the base and fix the first 2 or 3 pitches and then go for the top. Extra ropes are an advantage if fixing the whole route is your thing. Go to http://www.pbase.com/phil_box/mt_warning_queens_birthday_weekend for more pics of the recent attempt to free this wall. First ascent Phil Box, Neil Monteith, Nick McKinnon and Will Dameron on Queens birthday weekend 2001. First free ascent Cameron Fairbairn, Phil Box, Sept 2002.

I participated in the FA team and over the next 12 months have gone back to try to establish the line as free route. If you want to do an adventure route this is the mother of all adventure routes. Finding your way in to the bottom of the wall is almost beyond belief with a 4 hour walk through the vine choked rain forest festooned with waiterwhile and avoiding the giant stinging trees. I`ve since gone back and with Cam Fairbairn we sent this at grade 25. Cam did the hard pitches and I did the easier ones.
