The Basin is generally devided into two main areas. The Homestead Boulders are situated close to Castle Hill Station Homestead.There are five fields here including, from south to north, Spittle Hill, Quantum Field, Dark Castle and the smaller Wuthering Heights and Lime Quarry Scarp. About 5km up the road are the Flock Hill boulder fields, these include The Cave Stream Boulders, Dry Valley, The Escarpment and Flock Hill. For up to date access details, consult www.flockhill.info. Free camping is available at the Cave Stream camp ground 5km past the Cave Stream Scenic Reserve car park. Though free, it's not secure so be prepared to pack up every day. Very strict user ethics exist in this area. Only brush what you need. If bouldering in winter, taking a small square of carpet to wipe your shoes on and step onto the rock from is advisable. There are no rubbish bins so be prepared to carry your rubbish out. Overall, the relationship between boulders and DOC/landowners is delicate. devloping sport climbs is strictly prohibited due to a bolt ban. Colder months give best friction
