About The Diamond:

Not technically part of Hospital Flat, but close by. The Diamond has some great slab but this is a summer crag, being too wet to climb in winter. There are about 20 lines here, most are bolted, a handful are trad. Ranging in grade from 15 to 23. None of these crags are on public land. Access is at the discretion and good will of the run-holders. Local climbers have devloped a good relationship with run-holders so don't blow it for them. Rules are sign posted, please observe them.
Nearest town or city: Wanaka
Directions: Head for Glendu Bay, turn into Matukituki Valley Rd (look for the Treble Cone Ski area signs). A little past "The Cutting", turn right into Diamond Lake Car Park. As you walk to the lake, you should get you first look at the crag on the other side. Go around the lake to the right, cross the stream, follow a rough track between boulders then tending steeply up through some bush to the base of the crag.
