F. Falkensteinwand
About F. Falkensteinwand:
Steep limestone wall with pockets, 500 meters long, 70 meters height maximum.
"Falkensteinwand", often referred to as "Adlitzgraben", is more or less a hard mover environment. There are about 200 bolted routes that are mainly in the range from 6c to 8c+ with the majority of the routes on the harder end. Climbing style could be described as overhanging pocket pulling.
dynamo.at covers this site extensively and offers a downloadable guidebook - see forum post for direct link. Avoid routes that don't have bonded anchors, the old friction anchors are dangerous! |
Approach: | Obvious, the Sector "Monster" (aka "Straßenwand") is directly beside the street. |
Approach Time: | 30 sec |
Latitude, Longitude: | 47.65833, 15.79405 |
Access Issues: | Delicate situation, the property owner does _not_ authorize climbing. It is necessary to maintain a low profile when parking your car, on approach and when climbing. Be quiet, avoid places and routes where other people (hikers, mountainbikers, climbers) are already visible or audible. Wild camping at the Falkensteinwand base is forbidden. Be friendly and polite to anyone who does not look like a climber. Do not leave any traces. |
