About Gueberschwihr:
Gueberschwihr is a major climbing area in south Alsace made of red sandstone. It is divided in two areas : Vieux Gueb' et Nouveau Gueb'. Nouveau Gueb' is made of two parts : at the end of the area, a quarry with difficult sport routes on slabs, 30 m high. Closer on the path, a less difficult area with routes up to 15 meters. The total number of routes is almost 100, 3/4 under 5.11d. The cliff looks at (south-)east : during the winter go climb the morning if you don't want to freeze. Some boulders are also present beneath the path. Vieux Gueberschwihr is made of sport routes, top rope routes and before all boulders, often high and with exposed falls... |
