About Finale Ligure - an introduction to...:

checked on May the 27th, 2004.

The topo guide is called Finale Y2K, written by Andrea Gallo, a local climber, Idee Verticali Edizioni, price 26€. Nice topo, really worth to buy it. You will find it in the central climbing shop and climbers meeting center of Final Borgo, Rockstore, on the Piazza Centrale.

Finale Ligure has over 2,000 routes, on a great limestone ; slabs, vertical walls up to 4 pitches, overhangs.
The main areas are :
Rocca di Perti. Over 280 routes, 160 in the 6th degree, 50 in the 7th. 12 sectors in this area.
Monte Sordo. 80 routes, 50 in the 6th degree. 4 sectors. The Settore Centrale has nice routes, sometimes with 3 pitches. I climbed, among others, Franco e Ketty, 35m, 6b, great, Placca delle Bimbe, 60m, P1=6a, P2=5c, great too.
Monte Cucco. 250 routes. 145 in the 6th, 65 in the 7th. 8 sectors. I know the sector Anfiteatro, with nice routes of 30m, on a small pocketed limestone. Oggi in Stereo and Domani in Mono, 6a+, are both nice routes.
Rian Cornei is a huge area with many sectors, with a total number of routes over 450. The sector Falesia dell’Eco is the only one I know with 40 routes all in the 6th degree, 15 to 30m high. Magnesite Erotica and Conquista la Fisioterapista are nice, 6a and 6a+.
Bastionata di Boragni is the last large area. 155 routes, 75 in the 6th degree, 55 in the 7th. In the sector Grotta della Strapatente you will find some routes in the 7th degree. Go try Lick My Wounds, 6c+, that I opened with German friends back in 1999. It’s in an overhang, and I would like to hear some feelings about it. In the Settore Sinistro some routes in the upper 6th degree, and some very nice routes in the upper 5th and lower 6th degrees, such as Maniglioni, Vasconi, Chatanooga, No Gas… all 5c or 6a, and all perfect!
And others smaller areas, all nice.
