The Jerzu area covers three major crags near the town of Jerzu. In contrast to the steep, pumpy climbs characteristic of most of the Sardinian crags I visited, the climbing near Jerzu is less overhung and more technical. For those who are familiar with climbing areas in the US, I would classify Jerzu as the Shelf Road of Sardinia. The crags in this area are conducive to hot weather, as one could chase shade by climbing at Il Castello or Isola del Tesoro in the morning, and then Palazzo d'Inverno in the evening. Even between these three crags, the style varies considerably. Il Castello is the most vertical and technical, while the Palazzo is the steepest.
