A very long hike into an area with acres of ice. To get in, cross the Marquis hole, ski or walk across the flat to find the Vimy trail. Follow the trail to the east buttress (The trails climbs before levelling off at a view point). Head through the trees on the west side of a small creek for about 4km (tough bushwacking). The climbs are at the end of the valley. The best approach may be to drive or hike up the road to Chief Mountain Customs. Just past a large pullout with some tourist information is a meadow on the west side of the road. A trail leads through some trees, up into a bowl. Hike up the North East ridge of Sofa, going over into the Sullivan valley on easy talus slopes with little or no snow.
