Description:

APPROACH--About one mile from a possible landing area at 6,500 feet beneath the ridge; otherwise, it is 5 miles from the 7,200 foot Southeast Fork of the Kahiltna landing strip.

TOTAL TIME--5 to 12 days

VERTICAL GAIN--6,500 feet

DIFFICULTIES & DANGERS--30 to 50 degree snow and ice climbing; broad section of ridge from 9,500 to 10,000 feet is riddled with crevasses; couloir is avalanche prone after large snowfalls.

CAMPS--9,500 (above couloir); 10,000; 11,000 (overhanging boulder); 11,600.
