About Chalk Creek:

Where Chalk Creek empties into the salt river it forms a horsehoe of rock with a seasonal waterfall and great pond. The rock is basalt-like and @ 100-150' tall, cracks abound.
Nearest town or city: Globe
Directions: Where Hwy 188 crosses the bridge over the upper salt river, drive @ 2.5 miles further north to a gravel road leading east to Cherry Creek. Take that road 6-7 miles to chalk creek and hike a few miles to the end of the creek and rap into the pond. Alternately, drive to Gleason Flats and canoe, kayak or raft to the mouth of the creek. Lot of brush now, may be hard to find unless you have great routefinding skills on the river. http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?t=2&s=15&x=80&y=582&z=12&w=2
