About Deadman's:

OTD steep pocket pulling over slopey landings. The rock is solid and if you are no worries. Crash pads won't help you much here the ground is soft pulverized pumice. You might hit it but then launch down the hill on terra firma! In all seriousness though a great spot to pay a visit to on your drive up the 395 toward Yosemite. A reality check for the conditionining of your head! There are easier climbs here but the landing scenario remains the same. Steming the dihedral is always fun! ride lived in Mammoth for 5 years ('89 - '94) and Deadman's was one of his favorite spots
Nearest town or city: Mammoth Lakes
Directions: Deadman's summit is easy to miss. You will be heading up a hill and see a sign for the elevation of Deadman's summit. You've already passed it! As your heading up the hill look to your right, there is a fire station. Glass Creek C.G. is direcltly opposite. Also Camping (and KILLER fishing is availible at Cold Springs C.G. off of Owens River Road, just a bit south of Glass Creek) To get to Deadman's Summit, keep heading towards June, just before you get to the 'top' of the hill look to your left for a dirt road. Head up the dirt road (turn right, UP hill). The Climbing is in this little Valley, you can't miss it from here. You can also camp at the 'end' of this dirt road.
