About Cerro Romaldo:
This is one of the seven sisters (including Cabrillo Peaks and Bishop's Peak), and resides within the National Guard land at Camp San Luis Obispo on Highway 1 between SLO and Morro Bay. The climbing here is EXCELLENT. Possibly the best in the area.

Directions: | Climbing here takes dealing with bureaucracy as you've got to get clearance from the camp to climb. I'd suggest calling ahead (805.594.6510), but you can also just show up. Tell the guards at the gate what you're doing and make sure they're not using the area for firing practice. The approach is rather long (half hour?). After the gate, go straight past the planes and tanks and left at the end of the road. The parking lot is the area surrounded by rocks. Head up the road. When you see the grass field, climb up and join the trail to the rock area. |
