About Chimney Rocks Area:

Located in Sequoia National Forest between Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park near Stony Creek.
Approach: For Crystal Wall, park at the lower (left) parking lot, and walk out the trail to the west for 5 minutes. For Chimney Spire and Chimney Rock, park at either lot and walk towards upper camp to view the climbs. Rappel or downclimb 200 ft of class 3 to get to the base of the climbs.
Approach Time: 5 - 15 minutes

Access Issues: Quite frequently, this crag is closed due to nesting raptor birds. It is usually open by mid to late August every summer. Best time to climb is September/ October. Check with Sequoia/Knigs NF about up to date closure info. Fines from $5000 and up.
