Capitol Peak
About Capitol Peak:
Capitol Peak is one of themost beautiful and difficult 14ers in Colorado. It also has the best rock in the Elk Range, and a few excellent technical rock routes. The normal route is a notorious class 4 with a section of wildly exposed knife-edge ridge. To approach Capitol Peak, find Capitol Creek Road in the town of Snowmass. Drive up Capitol Creek road for almost 10 miles to the trailhead. Packing in is a good idea for this mountain, though it can be done car to car in a day. |
