Longs Peak
About Longs Peak:
The highest mountain in the Park. The north face is an alpine clmbers dream, 1,000 feet of vertical granite at a base elevation of 13,000 feet. For more "moderate" climbers look into "The Kieners" route or "The Cables' routes. This is by far not a guide for the peak - buy all the guidebooks you can as they all have something different to say. Climbing anything on the Diamond is a serious endevour. Be prepared for afternoon lightning storms every day. It's not a matter of when you're going to get hit by one but when. Try to make it to the top of your climb no later than 2pm. |
