About River Trail Boulders:
A friend and I were exploring this new neighborhood while it was in the process of being built... well we saw a sign near the back of the neighborhood that said: "River Trail". So we walked down it. About mid-way down the trail, we looked over into the river, and noticed a huge boulder jutting out into the water. We were thinking... "There have to be a few more boulders around here." So we continued walking, and crossed the river, only to find a massive outcropping of boulders, one is about 20 ft. high, all the others are rather small, but climbable. Very nice overhangs on some. Some great crack problems as well. Even farther through the woods on the other side of the river, are a few more areas of boulders that we haven't thourghouly explored yet. The area is very cool though. If anyone needs any more information you can get me on AIM - odCxx |
Nearest town or city: | Alpharetta |
Directions: | From Crabapple Kroger in Alpharetta: Drive onto Hwy 140, going North towards Canton. Drive about 2.5 miles or so, until you cross the bridge into Cherokee Co.; take a left immediately onto Arnold Mill Road, (Hwy 140 kind of veers off to the left and it becomes Arnold Mill, or it goes up a curvy hill. You want to take the left) Once you take your left, continue down Arnold Mill for about a quarter of a mile; you'll see a neighborhood called, "Laurel Brooke". Pull into the neighborhood. Go to the 1st stop sign, take a left. Continue going straight until the next stop sign, take a right. Continue straight still, take your next right, and go all the way down into the cul-de-sac. You'll see a pagoda and a sign that says: "River Trail". Park in the cul-de-sac really close to the trail, try not to park in front of people's yards. Walk down the sidewalk, it turns into a small volleyball court. Go left of the court, you'll see the trail. Walk down it, and look near the river about half way, you'll see some boulders. Keep walking until the trail kind of dead ends. Walk down the bank, cross the river and go up hill. You'll see a massive boulder with some smaller neighboring ones. |
