About Papohaku beach:

A perfect beach for sitting around, boogie boarding, or bodysurfing. Three miles long, and very empty. Besides water activities, it has a nice sandstone overhanging cave. Very fun climbing, but with a few drawbacks.

The rock can be chossy, depending on what section of it you are climbing. The side close to the water is solid, as far as I could tell. The rock can be slightly moist, so it's hard to grip the smaller holds. The worst drawback, or maybe what makes it so perfect, is the variation in the height of the sand. One day, there will be eight feet of space under the cave, which exposes the floor of knife-like small peaks below, but offers more climbing out of the cave, and two days later the sand will be up eight feet, which reduces the height of the overhang to about five feet and offers a perfect sandy landing. When the sand is up like this, it is great. Blow a chossy hold, or slip on wet rock, and no big deal. Just hope you hit it at the right time if you visit.
