Description:

The overhanging face and arete to the left of Beginner's Crack, on the back side of the X Face. Start at the base with a good hold on the arete for your left and a low sidepull on the face to the right. Crimp, pull and heel hook your way to the top. Difficulties ease as you go. You'll see a quartz knob as one of the last holds. Don't blow it up there.

Descent Options:

scramble down

5 out of 5 stars great day ropeless with zealotnoob

Proudest line at Carderrock. Agree with zealotnoob that, not being a boulderer, it was kind of exhilarating to top out after hard moves with no rope on. Maybe there's some merit to this pebble wrestling after all...

4 out of 5 stars gem at carderock

This was probably my first honest to goodness outdoor boulder problem. Felt amazing to top our with no rope or gear. They say V5, but I can't confirm with authority. Felt 5.12ish off the ground and easy 11 for the remainder. This is easily the best climbing I've done at Carderock, which usually consists of traverses, two move eliminates and easy solos.
