About Northwest Branch:
| Currently being developed. A hanful of climbers frequented the area during the mid 90's, and a number of the routes recorded on the website were established. No record was made except for a few notes passed back and forth. It was also known that local climbing legend Mel Banks climbed at Northwest Branch during the 70's. Began to see in an increase in bouldering traffic in 2000 or 2001. A few mediocre topos were distributed back and forth through e-mails for a while. This place is riddled with garbage so please pack out whenever possible. Semi-annual cleanups are organized by the grassroots environmental group "Neighbors of the Northwest Branch" www.neighborsnwb.org . Teddy Roosevelt was a fan of the area and wrote about scrambling over the boulders in his presidential journals. Come here often enough and you are bound to see: high school kids drinking, random naked homeless men bathing, and evidence of Santeria-style animal sacrifice. If you come during the week, particularly during warm weather, take care not to get jumped by roving gangbangers that like to hang out and party. |

| Directions: | From Washington D.C., take 29 North and go over 495. Cross over the 4 corners marketplace and continue on 29 for another mile. Just before a Citco gas station on your right take a right into the parking lot for a red brick building. Park here and follow the obvious trail down to the boulders. |
