About Indian Creek:
This area has some amazing hard limestone climbing. As per usual with a sport crag, it has an access road running through it for a local limestone mine, but there usually isn't much mine drivethru on weekends. Most routes are bolted sport climbs, but there are also a few mixed dry and trad routes. Anchors vary from welded coldshuts to chains. |
Nearest town or city: | Townsend |
Directions: | From Townsend, drive 4 miles northwest on HW12 and make a left turn immediately after the Missouri River Bridge and continue up the Indian Creek Road, making a right at the "Y" after crossing the railroad tracks. Continue another three miles making another left after crossing a cattle guard. The road is marked as Indian Creek Road. Continue a mile to the beginning of the canyon passing under the Continental Lime's 2 brigdes. Continue all the way through the canyon to the designated parking lot on the right (it's very obvious). If you never passed the mine, you took the wrong road. From Helena, drive 28.5 miles on HW12 and make a right just before the Missouri River Bridge. Continue as mentioned before. |
